TAX ACCOUNTANT

General Shale, Inc., the nation's leading manufacturer of brick, masonry siding, and outdoor hardscape products, is seeking a Tax Accountant at our corporate office in Johnson City, TN.

Summary of Duties: The Tax Accountant position is within the Finance/Accounting department. This position will report to the Senior Tax Accountant.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:       

• Analyze financial data and trends
• Preparation and review of monthly sales and use tax filings
• Assist with annual state franchise and excise tax filings
• Assist with annual state and federal income tax filings
• Research US and international tax issues
• Complete monthly testing of internal procedures regarding sales and use tax laws
• Assist with maintaining tax fixed assets books
• Assist with calculating deferred income tax provisions for a consolidated tax unit
• Assist with internal and external audits (sales and use tax, tangible personal property, etc).
• Utilize various financial and tax software (SAP S4, SAP BI, Go Systems RS, Fixed Assets CS, Sovos Taxware, etc.)
• Additional duties and tasks not specifically listed may also be included

 EDUCATION:                     

• Bachelors required with a concentration in Accounting, Business and/or Finance.

SKILLS REQUIRED:         

• Proficiency in general accounting skills
• Ability to prepare and review sales and use tax returns
• Ability to prepare state franchise and excise tax returns
• Ability to prepare state and federal income tax returns
• Detail oriented
• Excellent analytical skillset
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
• Strong business modeling skills
• Action-oriented and resolution driven
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Some tax preparation experience preferred

JOB INFORMATION:

40-hour workweek with additional hours in the evening and/or weekends may be required when project timelines dictate.
