Job Description:
As a Quality Control Technician at Genesis Concrete, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our concrete products. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct rigorous testing and analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished concrete products to ensure they meet industry standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Testing: Perform regular testing of raw materials such as aggregates, cement, water, and admixtures to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. This may involve conducting sieve analysis, moisture content testing, specific gravity tests, and other relevant tests as per ASTM or other applicable standards.
Concrete Testing: Conduct thorough testing of freshly mixed concrete samples and hardened concrete specimens to assess various properties such as slump, air content, compressive strength, temperature, and density. Utilize testing equipment such as slump cones, air meters, and compression machines to perform these tests accurately.
Quality Assurance: Monitor and inspect production processes to ensure compliance with established quality control procedures and standards. Identify any deviations or non-conformities and work collaboratively with production teams to implement corrective actions.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of test results, inspections, and any quality-related issues encountered during production. Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing findings and recommendations for improvement.
Calibration and Maintenance: Ensure that all testing equipment and instruments are properly calibrated and maintained according to manufacturer guidelines. Perform regular calibration checks and coordinate with the maintenance team for any necessary repairs or adjustments.
Adherence to Safety Standards: Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines while performing testing activities. Promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance among team members.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute ideas for optimizing processes, enhancing product quality, and minimizing waste.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree or certification in a relevant field such as civil engineering, construction materials technology, or quality assurance is preferred.
Certification as Concrete Field Testing Technician-Grade 1 is required.
Previous experience in quality control, preferably in the concrete or construction materials industry, is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of testing methods, equipment, and standards related to concrete and construction materials.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills to accurately interpret test results and identify deviations from specifications.
Proficiency in using computer software for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate findings clearly and concisely.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
