Your Role *This is a temporary position estimated to last 10-12 weeks* As a Digital Experience Design (DXD) team member, your role is to help envision, scope, and implement digital engagement opportunities. You will be the bridge between the physical and digital world while connecting the greater architecture and design teams at Gensler to craft truly integrated technology solutions in the built environment. You are curious about all types of technology and appreciate how it contributes to a broader experience. Your knowledge of existing hardware technologies, software systems, and media displays pushes the boundaries of physical design beyond a "rectangle on a wall." What You Will Do The Creative Technology Lead will be responsible for collaborating with fast-paced, interdisciplinary teams of experience, physical, visual, and interaction designers, digital and brand strategists, as well as external design, engineering, technology, and fabrication partners to deliver projects with bespoke design solutions. The Lead role will demonstrate exceptional vision and technical knowledge, oversee project progress and documentation from initial concept to installation and ongoing operations, and ensure successful project outcomes. We believe the most successful Creative Technologists have one foot in blue-sky dreaming and the other foot in grounded feasibility, which empowers the Creative Technology Lead to guide project outcomes that are constructible and imaginative! The Creative Technology Lead will also contribute their extensive experience towards the development, deployment, and maintenance of practice-wide tools, processes, and best practices that both elevate our team’s work and ensure its seamless delivery. As a DXD team member, you aid in the development of proposals and creative pitches, and within projects are responsible for partnering with the creative lead to develop and deliver the technology design intent. In addition, the ability to collaborate with other Creative Technologists across our global firm for knowledge sharing and project support, travel to project sites, and prototype reviews are tasks that excite you. Finally, you deeply understand the architectural construction process and engineering workflows and the ways technology systems design & integration projects fold into the built environment. Responsibilities Collaborate with clients, design teams, and other designers on projects across multiple industries Proven ability and relevant work experience in cross-functional environments, including Retail, Corporate, Museum, and/or large-scale media architecture Have mastery in combining demonstrated and emerging AV and IT technologies into robust integrated systems that enable potent experiences Provide technology inspiration, thought leadership in the application of technology in design, and innovative in solution approach Identify, research, and recommend technology solutions, specifications, and requirements Are proficient in 2D drafting (such as Vectorworks or AutoCAD) with basic 3D Modeling skills (Vectorworks, AutoCAD, 3ds Max, Rhino, or Sketchup) a big plus Working knowledge of real-time visualization software and game-engine applications (Unity and/or Unreal Engine 5) Develop for the needs of the clients, operators, and end-users, understanding the balance between each Create and maintain project documentation in each design phase Help develop, deploy, and maintain practice wide standards, documentation, and technology design tools Collaborate with our production and project delivery teams to ensure smooth and seamless execution of DXD designs Collaborate with external technology and solution vendors Advocate for Gensler's vision and participate in thought-leadership via public channels, including publications, speaking engagements, and industry gatherings Lead coordination and collaboration efforts with external AV partners and freelancers Your Qualifications Minimum 10 years' experience Ability to present technical solutions to a non-technical audience Direct experience integrating digital and technology as a component of physical space design and experience environments Experience reading, creating, and directing others in producing 2D/3D Architectural and Technical CAD drawings for various technical systems design needs Exceptional critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills Ability to work to schedule, provide work effort estimates, and collaborate on overall project scope definition Strong organizational and multitasking skills, comfortable operating within the constraints of timelines and budgets Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly, and understand diverse technologies and techniques Desire to employ best design practices and to develop new bold ideas Must provide a portfolio in either PDF form or a link to a website portfolio Life at Gensler Gensler is committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
