Your Role We are looking for a talented and versatile Data Engineer / BI Developer who’s passionate about the art and science of data - someone who values data integrity, is skilled at cloud-based data engineering with modern tooling, and is able to create appealing visualizations via reports and dashboards within our B2B SaaS products. We are looking for a self-starter who is happy working independently and with a team. Someone who can communicate with technical and client-facing teams, while maintaining and modernizing our products. What You Will Do Build data pipelines and data models to support our SaaS products Implement auditing and error handling best practices for data pipelines Extend existing pipelines and data models to enable advanced analytics capabilities, including analysis of semi-structured and unstructured data Incorporate new sources of data, both internal and external Collaborate with cross-functional team of software and SQL developers, testers, product managers, client services and IT throughout the software development lifecycle to deliver dynamic, high-quality report and dashboard solutions Understand user personas - their goals and problems - to define, create, build and deploy visualizations in client-facing SaaS products Analyze data and requirements, identify and articulate right-sized solution Provide design options, alternatives and recommendations based on best practices for reporting and dashboard design Develop and maintain a variety of reports and dashboards, including but not limited to tabular, drill down, graphs and charts Utilize existing functions and/or write new statements using SQL and/or Python as appropriate for the creation and maintenance of data visualizations Provide suggestions to enhance current and future product needs Deploy to a multi-environment, multi-server platform Monitor overall data integrity utilizing scheduled processes with automated notifications Apply test-driven development and peer reviews to ensure quality Drive results through feasible estimations and timelines Your Qualifications Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science or similar field 5 years professional experience using relational database technologies to optimize and manage large datasets 2 years of Python experience or similar Experience with Azure Data Factory / Azure Synapse Analytics Proficiency with Excel, reporting, business intelligence and dashboard platforms Knowledge and experience utilizing T-SQL and ETL tools Advanced query, data analysis and data visualization skills Analytical with strong attention to detail Proven experience delivering high-quality, client-facing reports and dashboards Self-motivated, organized, collaborative with strong written and verbal communication skills Experience working in an agile development environment An enthusiastic team player, passionate problem solver and great collaborator Preferred Qualifications Experience with Databricks / Delta Lake a plus Experience working within SaaS products also a plus Examples of work (if possible and not proprietary) Life at Gensler Gensler has been providing workplace management SaaS solutions to corporate real estate clients for over 20 years.
