MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in mechanical engineering design
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in designing military equipment a plus
ABOUT THE JOB!
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will join the New Product Development team and will be responsible for the mechanical design and validation of electro-acoustic assemblies, intercoms, cable assemblies, and helmet mounted military products. Identify design issues and recommend design direction, goals, and planning tasks. Review designs and models for performance, DFM, DFA, and quality. Apply lean design and six sigma design for manufacturing plastic injection molded components, metal stampings and mechanical parts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and development of Electro-Acoustics products; boom assemblies, Electret Mics, mic capsules, hearing protection, intercom systems, and helmet mounted products for civilian and military applications.
- Design, document and test new products and subsystem components.
- Drive system capability forward on current and next generation products.
- Develop the best innovative solutions to enhance product portfolio.
- Prepare/Create 3-D models, sub-assemblies. final assemblies, detail drawings with material specs and BOMs.
- Coordinate validation/testing of samples and interface with key vendors.
- Prepare and present engineering data to senior management and participate in design review meetings.
- Responsible for creating test plans, testing under lab conditions, and engineering reports.
- Contribute to bid and proposal efforts with design concepts, cost estimates and writing.
- Transition products into high volume production.
- Manage multiple projects
- Schedule flexibility to support critical deadlines may be required
- Draft and execute ECOs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical design
- Acoustic Modeling – Modal/Frequency Analysis a plus
- Understanding of manufacturing processes including plastic injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal forming and additive manufacturing.
- Communicate effectively with all departments and value streams
- Must have understanding of 3D CAD and FEA modeling; Solidworks preferred.
- Must be familiar with DFM and DMA best practices for transitioning products from design to production
- Understanding of design and material best practices with respect to EMI reduction and challenging environments.
- Knowledge of ASME 14.5Y for creation of technical drawings.
- Experience functioning in an ISO9001 and/or AS9100 quality system.
