POSITION OVERVIEW
The purpose of the Safety Specialist I is to support the development, implementation, and operation of corporate safety policies, procedures, and programs that support compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Assist in the evaluation of risk to employees and/or property based on a job hazard analysis or hazard assessment.
- Assist supervision with the investigation of injuries/accidents to identify cause(s) and corrective action(s).
- Communicate safety issues and solutions through memos and meetings.
- Coordinate and conduct production and non-production area audits.
- Identify, assess, and address safety issues or concerns with internal customers.
- Maintain applicable safety compliance records.
- Recommend the purchase of safety equipment and services.
- Schedule and perform employee safety training.
- Support Industrial Hygiene surveys for impacted areas.
- Support required tasks per the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Management System for ISO 45001 certification.
- Track effectiveness of safety management using statistical data.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Using online resources to research applicable rules and regulations, as well as pertinent standards, for direction and guidance.
- Maintaining high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters.
- Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace.
WHAT TO BRING
- 0-3 years of experience in safety coordination.
- 4-year degree in occupational health and safety, related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
WHAT WILL HELP
- Bilingual or Spanish-speaking skills preferred.
