POSITION OVERVIEW
The purpose of the Safety Specialist I is to support the development, implementation, and operation of corporate safety policies, procedures, and programs that support compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Assist in the evaluation of risk to employees and/or property based on a job hazard analysis or hazard assessment.
  • Assist supervision with the investigation of injuries/accidents to identify cause(s) and corrective action(s).
  • Communicate safety issues and solutions through memos and meetings.
  • Coordinate and conduct production and non-production area audits.
  • Identify, assess, and address safety issues or concerns with internal customers.
  • Maintain applicable safety compliance records.
  • Recommend the purchase of safety equipment and services.
  • Schedule and perform employee safety training.
  • Support Industrial Hygiene surveys for impacted areas.
  • Support required tasks per the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Management System for ISO 45001 certification.
  • Track effectiveness of safety management using statistical data.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Attention to detail - Ensuring information is complete and accurate; following up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled.
  • Building collaborative relationships - Developing, maintaining, and strengthening partnerships with others inside or outside the organization.
  • Communicating effectively: Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey clear understanding, taking into account the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Individual efficiency: Effectively managing time and resources so that individual work is completed efficiently.
  • Using online resources to research applicable rules and regulations, as well as pertinent standards, for direction and guidance.
  • Maintaining high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters.
  • Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace.
WHAT TO BRING
  • 0-3 years of experience in safety coordination.
  • 4-year degree in occupational health and safety, related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
WHAT WILL HELP
  • Bilingual or Spanish-speaking skills preferred.
