What are the responsibilities and job description for the PC Support Technician position at GENTEX OPTICS INC?
JOB ROLE:
As a member of IT/Automation team, the PC Support Technician is responsible for supporting desktops, laptops, HMIs, and all peripheral equipment in both the Enterprise and Industrial Automation environments. This includes the configuration and deployment of new hardware, troubleshooting and repairing PC, printer, scanning, network issues as well as diagnosing and resolving software issues. Additionally, perform preventative maintenance on computers and equipment, install updates and patches as required.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Imaging of desktops, laptops, and HMI systems.
- Install hardware, software, and device drivers on standalone and networked computers and printers.
- Upgrade software, patches, AV definitions and operating systems on a continuous basis.
- Analyze computers peripherals, hardware, and software to ensure they are working properly.
- Maintain accuracy of spare parts inventory.
- Determine end users’ needs and provide appropriate solutions in a timely manner.
- Maintain documentation and records of technical maintenance procedures and actions taken in resolution of issues.
- Team Player, approachable, and an excellent technical writer.
- Responsible for prompt, accurate status, and feedback regarding problems to customers and management.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience installing and configuring Windows Operating systems. (XP/7/10)
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Google Business platforms and applications.
- Intermediate knowledge of LAN/WAN networking.
- Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner (written, verbal, and presentation).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a business environment.
- Experience with PC Hardware and repair, excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Team player - must be able to work with people within and outside of the MIS department.
- Dedicated to providing excellent customer service.
- Provide evenings and weekend support as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of Computer Tech experience required.
- Associates Degree in Computer Science, Computer information Systems or equivalent.
- A Certification preferred.
This position may require support for production issues outside of normal business hours.
