Gentis Solutions is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team. This contract position is with one of our Fortune 50 clients interested in full-time flex/remote consultants. Requirements
Bachelors degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, Library Science or equivalent practical experience
5 years software development technical writing experience, ideally across web and native platforms
Ability to proactively contribute to discovery efforts, clarify customer needs and collaboratively influence product vision
Ability to help drive large scale change via documentation, e.g. has lead transition and/or training to new documentation structure, new ways of working, etc.
Experience with open-source software
Experience with modern micro-service architectures
Detail oriented and work well in a team and individually
Proven ability to achieve intended outcomes through influence and collaboration
Understanding of the entire development process (design, development and deployment)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills
Business-minded approach to time, costs, and deadlines
Provided examples of previous tech writing or other publicly published materials
Ability to identify when documentation is needed
Ability to present complex topics and data in clear, concise text
Ability to proofread technical material for consistency and accuracy
Ability to multi-task and be a self-starter
Comfortable working through ambiguity to achieve agreement / consensus
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable Skills
Basic knowledge of Markdown/HTML
Experience using version-control platforms such as GitHub
Experience using Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira
Experience using PowerBI to create dashboards
Typical Duties
Conduct hands-on research and obtain necessary technical content from subject matter experts while translating it into clear, concise, structured documentation
Create and maintain internal and external documentation for technologies and tools used within the Data & Analytics domain and across platforms (web, iOS, and Android)
Create new content, edit content contributed from others, and reorganize existing documentation
Produce clear and comprehensive documentation-as-code for analytics enablement capabilities
Design, write, and edit technical and process documentation and cross-functional training materials
Collaborate closely with product, design, engineering and digital analytics functions to ensure the quality, discoverability, and accuracy of enablement tools and processes
