Senior Data Analyst, In-Force Pricing, Long Term Care

YOUR ROLE
As a member of the Long Term Care (LTC), In-force Pricing modeling team, you are responsible for designing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining the models underpinning the pricing of Genworth’s existing LTC block of business. You will play a critical role in enhancing our organization by using models and data to drive business strategy, increase automation, and enhance the usage of data. This role requires working closely with process teams and cross-functional teams to ensure business needs are met that will be used to drive business decisions and support strategic goals.
The Senior Data Analyst is expected to demonstrate thought leadership, manage complex projects, meet deadlines, build relationships, and communicate effectively. The ideal candidate possesses advanced analytical skills with the ability to use models to transform data into information that can be used to support strategic objectives across LTC In-Force. It is essential to develop an in-depth understanding of the business to be able to identify and address critical issues.
What you will be doing
- Creating, testing, and documenting new code to enhance or correct existing models
- Completing and documenting all model changes in accordance with best practice guidelines
- Conducting root cause analysis to determine the reason for an issue, estimate the impact of that issue, and propose a solution to resolve the issue and prevent future errors
- Representing IFA as their model expert including upstream and downstream uses and implications. This includes working with cross-departmental teams to understand and capture modeling needs and output requirements.
- Implementing new business and IT data requirements through new data strategies and designs across all data and model platforms
- Determining and documenting proper usage of data and models to meet business needs including integration of actuarial concepts
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical or technical discipline
- At least 5 years of quantitative and qualitative data analysis and data modeling experience in a dynamic environment
- Hands on advanced knowledge of Python
- Hands on intermediate knowledge of SAS and SQL
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g. developing pivot tables, linking to external data, automating with VBA, etc)
- Self-motivation with an ability to manage multiple, and sometimes changing, priorities
- An ability to influence and work collaboratively in a team, build relationships, and network with cross-functional areas
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively across different disciplines, often with non-technical audience
- Experience with writing technical model documents and performing peer reviews is preferred
