Jr. Cloud Engineer

LOCATION

Hybrid- Raleigh, NC

YOUR ROLE

We are looking for a Jr. Cloud Engineer who will collaborate with other software and cloud engineers and business teams to support our technology strategy and architecture around how we manage our public cloud environment and deliver innovative technology solutions for Enact Mortgage Insurance. You should have experience with traditional and modern technologies and platforms such as AWS, Java, NoSQL databases, Python, REST API, relational databases, Git, JavaScript, Shell scripting, Docker, Jenkins, Terraform, etc. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the operational aspects of our public cloud environment, managing terraform, working with development teams, creating new support tools, and improving existing products with new technologies & solutions, play a hands-on development and design role in a rapid and dynamic environment.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Primarily build modern pipelines (CI/CD) to automate, enhance and support immutable environment for applications in the public cloud (AWS)
  • Additionally assist in building data platform infrastructure (Snowflake, Talend) and pipelines to support reporting and data science needs within the business
  • Work with auditor and security personnel on governance capabilities for the company's cloud environment
  • Part of a dedicated team to create and enhance software that enables state of the art, next generation modern applications
  • Support practices like Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Test Automation, Build Automation and Test-Driven Development to enable the rapid delivery of working code utilizing tools like Jenkins, Nexus, Terraform, Git and Docker
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 2 years' experience in software development and programming in Java, or Python
  • At least 2 years of experience developing automated infrastructure build scripts within Cloud computing environment (AWS)
  • 2 years of experience with open-source technologies
  • 2 years of experience with Containerized environments like Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, Fargate etc.
  • Experience taking technical ownership over projects
  • Working knowledge of operating systems, networking, storage and other infrastructure technologies and concepts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5 years of experience in developing large, distributed platforms
  • 3 years of Agile engineering experience
  • 3 years of UNIX/Linux experience
  • Experience working with Machine Learning and Data Science teams
