21st Century Charter School @ Gary is a school within the GEO Academies network. All GEO-powered public charter schools are high academic growth schools and feature a unique K-14 model–full-day kindergarten through two years of college.
We serve over 1350 students and are growing. With a graduation rate of 90% and a college and career readiness rating at 88% , it's no wonder we have the highest enrollment in Gary.
We were the first high school in Indiana to have a student graduate high school with a 4-year bachelor's degree. In addition, we are one of the few Indiana schools offering an early college immersion program that allows our qualifying high school students an opportunity to take actual college courses earn real college credits free of charge. We recently received endorsement by the University of Indianapolis CELL as an Early College High School.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
An Instructional Coach is required to perform the following duties:
- Be willing to teach up to 3 class periods of core subjects
- Develop an exemplary academic improvement plan based on research-based strategies that will support student achievement in the identified areas of need as revealed from a thorough analysis of student and teacher performance data; provide adequate modeling and follow-up to ensure proper implementation of strategies
- Participate in the implementation of the teacher support and development system, including weekly professional learning and data team meetings
- Observe and provide peer assistance and coaching toward meeting teacher’s Individual Growth Plan goals
- Evaluate teacher performance using the school’s developed Performance Evaluation process and conduct follow-up teacher conferences
- Communicate teacher performance to the principal, highlighting teachers in need of coaching due to insufficient performance; assist the principal in the development of individual growth plans for teachers that have received poor performance ratings and/or student growth results
- Continuously analyze results of assignments, standardized assessments, and other data points in order to develop targeted interventions to ensure the academic success of all students
- Provide leadership in facilitating group processes, including consensus building and conflict resolution
- Communicate and collaborate with teachers and school administrators
- Attend all required staff meetings
- Participate in staff development opportunities
- Willing to perform other duties when asked by supervisor.
- Dress professionally and uphold all school policies
REPORTS TO/TERM:
Principal and Administrative Team
10-month school calendar with 10 additional days during the summer break
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master’s degree or higher in relevant academic discipline
- Valid Indiana Teaching License in Elementary or Secondary Education
- At least 5 years of successful teaching as measured by performance evaluations
- Core Knowledge Experience
- Experience with Blended Learning
- Excellent communication skills and understanding of how to facilitate growth
- Student data that illustrates the teacher’s ability to increase student achievement through utilizing specific instructional interventions
- Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement
- Demonstrated volunteer or community service
