What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Control Technician position at Georgia-Pacific?
We are currently seeking an experienced Process Control Technician for our manufacturing facility in Albany, GA. This is a highly skilled position requiring a thorough understanding of safe work practices, troubleshooting, and maintaining manufacturing equipment /processes. This position creates value by ensuring the reliability of the equipment to help meet and exceed the facility's goals for quality and production by, troubleshooting, and diagnosing electrical and/or control problems on all manufacturing equipment in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
What You Will Do
- Maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley and CTI PLC's)
- Manage PLC platform and associated infrastructure to ensure continued reliability
- Revising graphical displays, building/modifying alarms, building/modifying control loops and updating setpoints
- Setup, calibrate, and diagnose instrumentation devices using specialized test equipment and software
- Responds to trouble calls and emergencies, both during and outside normal work hours
- Repair, maintain and troubleshoot electrical automation systems and equipment, drive systems, microprocessor-based (PLC) systems, burner management systems, and electronic control systems and devices
- Ensure proper operation of all control system components including electronic equipment
- Provide additional technical support as needed for equipment such as motors and instrumentation such as level, pressure, temperature, and flow devices
- Assist with design, implementation and management of improvement projects related to PLC and new automated equipment.
- Work with Supervisors, Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations to plan, procure and document maintenance activities.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a Process Control Technician or Industrial Automation experience
- Experience with programming, troubleshooting, and repairs of PLCs & HMIs
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting and repair for manufacturing equipment (motors, AC/DC Electricity, robotics, and tools).
- Strong understanding of and ability to utilize VFDs and Servo Drives
- Ability to read and interpret technical reports, electrical drawings, and schematics
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
What Will Put You Ahead
- Associates Degree or technical certification in Industrial Instrumentation, Electrical, or Automation technology with 3 years of related work experience
- Experience with safety processors and instrumentations.
- Experience with Control Technologies Inc. (CTI) PLCs and hardware
- Experience in Lumber manufacturing
