Our Team
Georgia-Pacific in Fordyce, AR manufactures Oriented Strand Board (OSB) structural panels of compressed wood used in housing construction and remodeling. Our team must be available to work twelve (12) hour rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and Overtime as needed in extreme hot/cold and humid environments. Occasionally the Quality Technician will be working in a climate-controlled office. Physical aspects include but are not limited to lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to 12 hours a day.
What You Will Do
- Perform all product testing associated with quality certification of the finished product
- Maintain timely and accurate computerized records of test results and data
- Work directly with 3rd party certification personnel to submit samples for outside testing and data analysis
- Perform testing equipment calibration using various tools i.e., computer software, measuring tapes, and Micrometers
- Lead quality efforts for a wood products production team to work injury-free/incident free in a continuous manufacturing environment
- Drive improvement in all associated work processes affecting EHS, compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs
- Support the APA (American Plywood Association) Quality System (PS2-18) to align and optimize the manufacturing enterprise in delivering value to the business
- Facilitate team development and growth from a quality perspective which helps with problem-solving and resolution, building employee commitment and ownership, and holding employees accountable
- Support safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement the appropriate mitigating strategies based on the risk involved
- Monitor the quality of craft work and provide direction to crew members to maximize production efficiency
- Assist with troubleshooting production issues
- Responsible for timely completion of computer-based monthly assigned safety trainings
- Data entry and completing/generating reports
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations to include wearing the necessary Personal Protection Equipment
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of five (5) years of industry experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Experience operating Basic Software Programs and inputting data
What Will Put You Ahead
- Associates Degree or higher
- Minimum of two (2) years of analytical laboratory experience
- Level One APA certification
- PSQ Certification
