As a Public Health Emergency Preparedness Deputy Director within the Division of Health Protection, Emergency Preparedness & Response Section at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee systemic coordination of Georgia’s public health emergency planning and response to promote emergency preparedness in the region and state
- Address the required strategies and activities as outlined in the Centers for Disease Control’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Notice of Funding
- Collaborate with other state agencies and partners, public health districts, healthcare providers, volunteers, EMS, and Health and Human Services Region IV partners on public health preparedness activities.
- Provide coordination and preparedness leadership to all eighteen (18) public health districts throughout the state.
- Support the completion of annual grant requirements, including submissions, reporting, and budget administration
- Supervise section leads as assigned by the Director
- Take calls for the Department and assist with ESF 8-related activities within the Emergency Operations Center and the GEMA State Operations Center
- Participate in local, state, and national workgroups related to public health preparedness and response activities
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role;
or
Nine (9) years of related professional experience which includes five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role;
or
Five (5) years of experience required at the lower level Sr Mgr, Business Ops (GSM012) or position equivalent.
Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) or more years of experience in education, training, and/or facilitating groups.
- Effective written and oral communicator
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Good analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Demonstrates an outstanding level of professionalism in providing administrative support, including the ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
- Position may require occasional travel, including overnight travel.
