Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)- Georgia School for the Deaf is recruiting for an experienced Residential Support Supervisor.
Under limited supervision this position will supervise, guide and / or instruct the work assignments of subordinate staff.
The job responsibilities include, but not limited to :
Description of Duties
- Assist with daily living activities at the person's home, in a daytime non-residential facility or a residential facility
- Observe and monitor client's behavior and charts observations and incidents
- Provide training of basic personal and social skills, simple academics, or work skills to consumers / students in a state school, hospital, juvenile detention facility, residence, group home, workshop, or supported employment environment
- May assist with meal preparation, ensuring or encouraging client group activity, providing transportation, and / or limited case management
- Supervise and plan work of assigned staff
- Manage human resource and employee relations functions
- Arrange for needed medical care and provides needed services to assure that medical care is obtained
- Assist in presentation of educational group lectures related to appropriate topics
- Assist with the development of an individual service / treatment plan for each assigned consumer / student
- Care for individuals and families during periods of incapacitation, family disruption or convalescence, providing companionship, personal care, and help in adjusting to new lifestyles
- Counsel and advise clients on behavioral problems, daily decision-making, and the resolution of minor problems.
- Instruct and advise clients / residents on daily living skills in one-on-one or group instruction
- Observe and monitor client behavior
- Participate in case reviews, consulting with the team to evaluate the client's needs and plan for continuing services
- Perform housekeeping duties, such as cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, and running errands
- Plan, organize and conduct in-service training for staff
- Plan, shop for, and prepare meals, including special diets, and assists families in planning, shopping for, and preparing nutritious meals
- Prepare and maintain records of client progress and services performed, reporting changes in client condition to manager or supervisor
- Provide transportation for clients / residents to appointments and activities
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following :
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- American Sign Language (ASL) skills
- 1 year experience in a related field working with deaf and hard of hearing students

High School diploma / GED and three (3) years of job-related experience providing social or direct care services to groups of special needs individuals in a human service setting, which includes one (1) year experience as a lead worker, team lead, or supervisory role;
or One (1) year of experience at the lower level Client Support Worker 3 (SSS012) or equivalent position.
