Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Business development, feasibility evaluations and project management for integration of renewable energy to clients seeking to pursue carbon reductions and net zero energy operations by the introduction of renewable projects (solar, floating solar, onshore and offshore wind, battery energy storage)
  • Identification and matching client needs with marketplace opportunities for renewable energy integration.
  • Strategic planning for clients wishing to reduce carbon footprints and using renewable energy to achieve net reduction or net zero goals.
  • Elevate Geosyntec’s visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participation in client-based professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events.
  • Assist in the development, planning, permitting and implementation of electric renewables, as well as providing integrated consulting, environmental, design and construction support. Projects could include both utility scale and commercial scale wind energy and solar power projects, floating solar, hydropower and pumped storage facilities, battery storage, hydrogen, biofuels and other transitional and conventional fuels.
  • Collaborate with leaders in our energy and decarbonization services, sustainability, engineering and natural resources practice areas to provide both strategic solutions and implementation support;
  • Manage projects and staff, including providing technical leadership and oversight, risk management, and mentoring.
  • Work closely with staff in other offices.
  • Assist in recruiting and training additional staff.
  • Serve in a market business growth and project execution role for the company culture and values across the organization.

Bonus capabilities

  • Foundational understanding of the project development process specific to electric renewable energy technologies including solar, from client request to delivery.
  • Experience with successful stakeholder engagement practices and development of public engagement strategy for electric renewable energy projects.
  • Experience coordinating with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms or Design-Build (DB) companies in electric renewable energy project development, through construction and operation.
  • Brings a strong understanding of financial drivers for renewable energy projects and understands what strategies enhance project success.
  • Excited to contribute significantly to Geosyntec business development efforts in applying renewable and sustainable technologies to meet client needs and solve client problems.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or related engineering field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in Environmental engineering with an emphasis on clean energy projects and economics or related field (M.S. or Ph.D.). (preferred)
  • Professional Engineering License (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in a project management and business development role in the environmental or consulting industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Recognized for technical competence in renewable energy and development of client-focused, creative, and practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial attitude and ability to generate new work and grow the business segment, with a proven track record of success.
  • Demonstrated ability to support Federal, State, and local agency and private development projects.
  • Exceptional oral and written-communication skills, as demonstrated by a record of conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
