Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Hydrogeology Intern in our Santa Barbara or Ventura, California office. The position offers the opportunity to apply geologic, hydrogeologic, and scientific academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) for approximately six months. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting fieldwork (up to 80%) such as soil and groundwater sampling, aquifer testing, and drilling and contractor oversight following training;
- Assisting with geologic/hydrogeologic calculations using computer-based technical tools;
- Investigation of the vapor intrusion pathway;
- Vapor intrusion mitigation system design and implementation;
- Technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
- Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; and
- Following instructions and interacting with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD operators (draftsmen), contractors and construction personnel.
- Local travel or driving to project sites as needed.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering, environmental science, or another applicable field. (required)
- Coursework focused in hydrogeology, geology, geochemistry, or environmental geology. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Experience with ArcView, CADD, and/or Microsoft Office. (preferred)
- Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication and problem-solving skills. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites. (required)
Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Based on state and federal requirements, this position may be hourly and overtime-eligible or salaried eligible for straight-time overtime. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum Wage: $21.00/hourly / Maximum Wage: $29.00/hourly (Ventura)
- Minimum Wage: $22.00/hourly / Maximum Wage: $30.00/hourly (Santa Barbara)
