Bit Regrinding Technician

Geotemps, Inc. is recruiting for a temporary bit regrinding technician in Elko, NV. In this position the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that mining bits are ready for re-use at the mines.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Candidate will be responsible for salt-bathing and sharpening used mining bits, so that they can be re-used by operators at the mine site.
• Candidate will first salt-bathe the used bits, and then sharpen the carbides on them, using a bit grinding machine.
• Candidate will be required to stand at the bit grinding machine throughout the 8-hour day.
• The job will also take place outside under a cover and with an outdoor heater as dictated by the weather.
• Must be able to perform duties in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Candidates are required to wear specific PPE: work boots, safety glasses, rubber gloves, apron, and facemask or a respirator.
• Must be able to do Other Duties as Assigned.
• Must be able to work independently doing what is needed, but also work well in a team environment.
• Must be able for follow instructions consistently – both written and verbal.
• Must handle equipment with the utmost care.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs, walk and stand for long periods of time, and perform strenuous physical labor.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be clean shaven for respirator use

• The candidate is regularly required to stand, bend and twist, repetitive movements using hands and wrists, handle or feel, talk or hear, and reach above the shoulder with hands and arms.
• Physically capable of sitting or standing, shoveling, and performing other types of physical work for long periods of time.
• The candidate is occasionally required to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk and sit.
• The candidate may be required to walk on uneven or slippery surfaces.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Good eye-to-hand coordination is essential.
