What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Communications Manager position at German American Chambers of Commerce?

The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern US, Inc. (GACC South) is a private, non-profit organization which serves as the official representative of German industry and trade in the Southern United States. Our mission is to promote and support bilateral trade between Germany and the US.

We are seeking a highly motivated full-time Marketing Communications Manager with 2-3 years of relevant work experience. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who has had first experiences in a corporate or agency environment and is looking to take the next step with more responsibilities and decision making powers.

Your job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Website:

  • Maintain the current website (gaccsouth.com) in Typo-3 (CMS) and ancillary websites hosted by us
  • Optimize content, tag assets (and create site tags, robot.txt, etc.) and structure content based on best-practices
  • Update website with new content, perform UAT and make sure that links are working

Social Media:

  • Create engaging content (writing and assets) for social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter) as well as quarterly magazine
  • Maintain a social media calendar
  • Based on analytics, provide recommendations to increase user engagement, views, clicks and likes

CRM:

  • Create three to four weekly newsletters in Constant Contact
  • Develop content and assets to be used in newsletters
  • Review distribution lists and analytics to increase open rates and CTR
  • Maintain a newsletter calendar with topic setting
  • Provide a best customer experience and customer first approach for GACC South Members
  • Cross-selling of other GACC South services
  • Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned

Communication Strategy/Misc.:

  • Support the overall communication strategy of the GACC South
  • Support other departments in the development and execution of communication needs either proactively or through requests (briefs)
  • Liaise with other chambers in the US on communication initiatives
  • Initiate or execute press releases and maintain press release distribution lists
  • Facilitate press briefings with stakeholders
  • Maintain contacts in CRM-System (Salesforce)
  • Ensure company-wide adherence to CI guidelines

Required:

  • Valid work permit for the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, marketing or business
  • Excellent reading, writing & oral proficiency in English. German language skills a plus but not required
  • Experience with CMS, preferably Typo-3 (alternatively Wordpress, Drupal or other proprietary platforms such as Wix)
  • SEO experience
  • Experience working with CRM tools (e.g. Constant Contact, MailChimp)
  • Experience with social media sites (twitter, fb, LinkedIn) and tools (e.g. Hootsuite, Sprinklr)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Self-motivated, energetic learner with a good sense of humor
  • Ability to work independently while integrating well with the GACC South team
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of detail-orientation
  • Highly organized with the ability to meet tight deadlines and the ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to work well in high-stress environments while remaining professional and producing impeccable work with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Must possess an open communications style. Ability to communicate efficiently and clearly in a bi-lingual, multicultural environment
  • A positive, friendly attitude, high level of creativity and personal commitment to your work
  • Self-motivated, energetic learner with a good sense of humor
  • Work well under pressure, requires multitasking and being a team player

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with membership organizations and/or community outreach
  • Experience with member drives, fundraising, event planning, building relationships and identifying sales opportunities
  • Google Ads
  • Google & Twitter Analytics, fb Insights
  • Adobe Creative Cloud (especially InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere)
  • Video and Photo capturing capabilities
  • Salesforce experience (preferably Community Cloud and Marketing Cloud)
