Role Description

We're seeking a talented Design Lead to join our team. In this role, you'll take charge of digital product design projects, guiding them from concept to completion. You'll conduct user research, create wireframes and prototypes, collaborate with clients and stakeholders, and provide strategic design guidance.

As a Design Lead, you'll focus on delivering high-quality design solutions that align with client objectives and industry best practices. You'll bring a strategic perspective to client projects, lead and mentor design teams, and manage client relationships effectively.

This role offers flexibility with a hybrid or remote work arrangement.

What You'll Accomplish

Client Work (75-80%)

Develop and articulate design and research strategies that support client business goals, respect end users, and achieve desired outcomes.

Oversee the execution of these strategies, providing creative direction and mentorship to ensure high-quality design and research.

Act as a trusted partner to clients, navigating complexity, setting clear expectations, and delivering on time and within budget.

Adapt to evolving client and team needs, overcoming challenges with grace.

Balance competing business, technical, and user needs effectively.

Facilitate design reviews, provide constructive feedback, and invite feedback to foster individual and project growth.

Innovate processes to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.

Commit to creating and promoting accessible and inclusive design solutions.

Share responsibility for project and client success.

Business Development (5-10%)

Articulate the impact of our design capabilities on client outcomes.

Contribute to the sales process through client meetings, proposals, estimates, and presentations.

Identify and shape new opportunities within existing client engagements.

Design Leadership (10-15%)

Serve as a thought leader within the design practice and across the agency.

Mentor team members, leveraging coaching and feedback to develop their skills.

Collaborate with team members to establish and maintain quality standards, processes, and tools.

Foster trust through active listening, valuing ideas from contributors, and championing innovative ideas.

Pursue personal and professional growth, focusing on leadership, consulting, and technical skills.

Model professional behavior and set a positive tone for the team.

Qualifications

A strong desire to help others succeed and a collaborative mindset.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in interaction design, UX, or related fields.

At least 8 years of experience as a designer with a minimum of 2 years in a consulting or agency setting.

Expertise in human-centered design methodologies and systems thinking.

A compelling portfolio demonstrating your process and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to navigate conflict, offer constructive feedback, and make confident decisions.

Strong self-direction with an ownership mindset and awareness of industry trends.
