Position Summary

As a Marketing and Communication Specialist within the Office of Graduate Studies, you will play a vital role in supporting graduate student recruitment and event management efforts. Your responsibilities will include crafting and editing content across various mediums such as print, email, social media, video, and web platforms. Additionally, you will contribute to designing reports, marketing materials, videos, and presentations. This role involves writing feature stories, news releases, website content, social media posts, and providing copy editing services. You will also assist in the creation of marketing materials, event planning, coordination, and promotion, as well as supporting graphic design needs. Moreover, you will act as a liaison for marketing support with different departments and teams within the university.

Job Duties

General Marketing Coordination (50% of Time):

Develop and edit content and graphics for print and digital projects (e.g., viewbook, resource guide).

Create, edit, implement, and analyze social media content.

Assist in developing and editing website content.

Contribute to new graduate program marketing launch plans.

Serve as an advocate for the university's brand and collaborate with the Office of University Communications.

Graduate Student Recruitment Support (30% of Time):

Write, edit, and implement CRM-based email campaigns.

Develop presentation slides and coordinate materials for recruitment activities (both in-person and virtual).

Event Marketing and Coverage Support (20% of Time):

Assist in marketing and day-of coverage for office events and activities, including communication with internal and external campus partners.

Events may include Graduation and Commencement, workshops, welcome events, and external sponsored events.

Required Qualifications

Education: Associate's degree or equivalent.

Experience: Two years of full-time professional experience demonstrating project coordination, effective communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field.

Experience: Experience working with diverse backgrounds, graphic design experience, and one year of professional experience in communications, marketing, event coordination, or public relations. Higher education experience is preferred but not required.
