Position Overview
The Realty Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the National Park Service's land acquisition program. Your responsibilities will include researching legal documents, such as deeds, easements, and agreements, to determine the legal interests of third-party right-of-way uses within National Park Service units. This position involves detailed legal analysis, data entry, and collaboration with fellow interns and Land Resources Division employees. You will participate in team meetings, work closely with various teams within the organization, and utilize existing systems and external resources to conduct research.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; flexibility may be available.
Position Benefits
Living Allowance: You will receive a living allowance of $1,000 per week to offset food and incidental expenses.
Direct Hire Authority: This position offers Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) Internship classification, providing exceptional undergraduate or graduate students with rigorous internships aimed at developing technical skills, leadership qualities, and problem-solving capabilities.
Public Land Corps Hiring Authority: Eligible members may receive federal hiring authority upon completing their term of service and 640 hours of service.
Professional Development Stipend: You will receive a $1,000 professional development fund for approved purposes.
Provided Training/Orientation: Comprehensive training and orientation will be provided, covering policies and procedures, specific divisional training topics, and Right-of-Way Program related trainings.
Qualifications
Required:
U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
Ability to represent the company and partner organizations in a professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner.
Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Current and valid identification.
Willingness to undergo and pass required criminal history checks.
Ability to perform essential duties of the position.
Completion of necessary administrative tasks such as timesheets and evaluations.
Preferred
Pursuing or holding a minimum of a Master's degree or relevant experience in realty or law.
Familiarity with realty policy.
Proficiency in accessing public records, conducting research, and communicating findings effectively.
Interest in the National Park Service, realty, law, or public land management.
