Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)

The agency has licensed therapists, certified peer specialists, community support associates, and targeted case managers on its roster of mental health professionals ready to assist people’s needs.

Responsibilities include:

• Works with patients to complete all intakes, admissions, discharges, and transfer paperwork.
• Documents patient progress through counseling and interaction through groups.
• Completes patient psychosocial and individualized treatment plan within the required time frame.
• Counsel clients, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes towards recovery.
• Educates patient in all aspects of treatment, corresponding health issues and steps to recovery.
• Guide patients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their substance use disorders.
• Act as patient advocates in order to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
• Meet with families, probation officers, police, and other interested parties in order to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
• Plan, organize and lead structured programs of recovery for patients.
• Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.

Qualifications:

• Must be a licensed or certified counselor in Kentucky (CADC)
• Knowledge of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders – characteristics, assessment, and treatment.
• Experience working in residential addictions treatment or other human services counseling field, highly preferred;
• Personal characteristics of maturity and professionalism with a sincere desire to work with recovering individuals.

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to effectively communicate and work with patients, therapists, staff and administration.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer knowledge (i.e. word processing, searching websites for patient or physician purpose).
• Ability to organize work, pay close attention to detail, and have problem solving skills

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

Experience:

• Addiction counseling: 1 year (Preferred)
