Field Operations – Our Field positions offer candidates across North America the potential for limitless growth and skill expansion as the front line of our organization, making them central to our company's vision of creating cleaner and more sustainable communities. Professional Services – Our Corporate positions located in key North American offices grow candidates to form strong client relations, manage key programs and accounts, and ensure our Field teams are operating at maximum efficiency. GFL is looking to hire a Financial Analyst based out of our Kalkaska office! The Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing treasury support, and managing company’s operating cash requirements, review and reconciliation of General Ledger reports and activity. Responsible for the administration of the financial reporting systems. Coordinate monthly account reconciliation assignments and review process. Serve as liaison with the external auditors. Complete complex accounting projects. Key Responsibilities: • Maintain and update chart of accounts. • Serve as administrator of the Great Plains and Viewpoint reporting systems. • Develop standard and ad hoc reports using the Cognos reporting software. • Maintain matrix of account reconciliations and ensure that all reconciliations are prepared, reviewed and received by the due dates. • Serve as liaison with external auditors to coordinate audit requests. • Prepare and review General Ledger transactions and account reconciliations. • Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by others, as assigned. • Coordinate posting of journal entries to the General Ledger. • Coordinate and maintain accounting closing schedule. • Prepare audit and special request reports as needed. • Complete complex accounting and process improvement projects as assigned. • Provide support to General Ledger and CapEx requests. • Serve as backup to Regional Controller for preparation, analysis and distribution of monthly and quarterly financial reports. • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. • Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, and ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives. • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies: • Degree in accounting • 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience. • 1-2 years of advanced experience with financial reporting systems required. • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. • Strong understanding of GAAP and current accounting practices. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Strong communication and organizational skills. • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. • Ability to manage both short and long-term accounting projects.
