What are the responsibilities and job description for the Architect (Entry-Level) position at GHD?

Our Northeast Engineering Design Organization (EDO) is looking for an entry-level Architect to join their team in Syracuse, NY! In this role, you will assist with the design, evaluation and implementation of new buildings and building alterations, for primarily municipal and industrial clients; most frequently for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Performing design calculations, sketches and technical comparisons
  • Reviewing and editing project specifications
  • Preparing and editing designs and drawings along with portions of project documents
  • Researching code and regulatory requirements, design options, component specifications and document findings
  • Responding to contractor’s questions and preparing alternate designs as needed under the mentorship of Senior Architects
  • Performing analysis and design retrofit of new and existing facilities

Successful skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Architecture
  • 0-2 years of Architectural experience; applicable internship experience preferred
  • Planning to sit for the Architectural Registration Exam
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and SketchUp
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently
