GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Insurance Collections Coordinator I.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Position purpose
Review and process insurance denials to obtain timely payment for physician services.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

- Process insurance denials received by phone dispute, written appeal, or corrected claim
- Review payer rules to understand reason for denial
- Compose correspondence to payer regarding payment disputes and/or appeals
- Interpret progress notes, operative reports, discharge summaries and charge documents to determine services provided
- Communicate with patients to verify correct demographics and coordination of benefits on denied claims; Refile claims as needed
- Refer complex issues to the supervisor for review and or action
- Provide quality service to patients
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills are required
- MS Office experience, particularly in MS Word and MS Excel
- Ability to type at least 30 wpm
- Prior appeals experience electronically and ability to obtain claim status
- Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented
- Basic understanding of healthcare plans
- Be able to read and understand medical benefits
- Bilingual is a plus
- Medical terminology (CPT, ICD 10) knowledge
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: 2-4 years of prior insurance experience is preferred. Prior appeals experience electronically and ability to obtain claim status needed.
