Class A CDL Tractor Trailer Driver
The GIANT Company’s Perishable Distribution and Transportation Center is currently looking for Class A CDL Tractor Trailer Drivers to join their transportation team in Carlisle, PA.
Position Overview
The GIANT Company Transportation Center tractor trailer drivers are responsible for the safe, accurate and timely transportation of product between the Perishable Distribution Center, retail stores and e-commerce facilities. Where drivers do not load product into the trailer at the warehouse, they do assist with unloading their trailer upon arriving at a store or e-commerce facility. As such, drivers must be able to lift product up to 55 lbs. Tractor trailer drivers collaborate with other facility team members and the Shipping, Sanitation and Safety teams to understand and follow food and workplace safety guidelines for a safe and clean work environment.
The GIANT Company’s Perishable Distribution and Transportation Center is a refrigerated 24/7 and 362 day a year operation servicing approximately 200 retail stores and e-commerce facilities throughout PA, MD, VA and WV.
Qualifications and Abilities
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Possess a valid CDL – Class A Certification/License
- Must have at least 3 years of experience
- Pass drug, DOT and road testing.
- Complete background check
- Basic English and mathematics understanding
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Customer and service oriented
- A positive and teamwork mindset
- Strong work ethic and track record of attendance and performance
- Independent and adaptable with the ability to effectively problem solve and thrive in a changing environment.
- Tolerance for refrigerated and humidity-controlled environments.
- Reliable and punctual and able to report to work during inclement weather.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Support The GIANT Company brand, values, and culture.
- Overtime and “on call” availability may be required, periodically.
- Pick up and transport product across operating area.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Assist with unloading product off trailer.
- Follow production standards to maintain quality and minimize product damage.
- Maintain contact with dispatch hub throughout shift.
- Monitor and follow dispatch plans and routes throughout shift and adjust, as needed.
- Consistently demonstrate commitment to quality and safety standards.
Additional Details
- 10 – 12 hour staggered shifts dispatch anytime between 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM.
- 4-day weekend work week (available options include: Thursday; Friday; Saturday; Sunday; Monday)
- Starting Base Pay: $26.00 /hour
- Premiums Include: $1.00 overnight; $2.00 weekend.
- Overtime available (in accordance with driver safety regulations)
- Ability to drive both automatic and manual trucks is preferred, but not required.
- In-house new driver training and mentor program for newly licensed drivers
- Go home each day - Daily route schedules.
- After 60 days of employment = $5,000
- After 6 months of employment = $5,000
