Job Summary
As the Fleet Maintenance Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the maintenance policies and procedures for an extensive fleet of diesel and compressed natural gas tractors and trailers. You’ll also meet customer requirements by leading a full staff of fleet mechanics and ensuring operational safety and efficiency.Job Description
- Experience Required: 5 to 10 years
- Experience Desired: Working knowledge of state and federal Department of Transportation regulations; Working knowledge of state and federal inspection guidelines; Mechanical aptitude
- Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent plus 18 months to 3 years of additional training
- Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
- Travel Required: Regional - Daily, 25 - 50%
Job Responsibilities
- Develop maintenance schedules in accordance with the conditions of the labor agreement and the transportation department's operating needs.
- Ensure all equipment meets state and federal regulations and is available to meet customer requirements.
- Oversee all documents tracking state and federal inspections and any maintenance operations performed on fleet vehicles to ensure compliance with state and federal Department of Transportation regulations.
- Develop and manage a fiscal budget to meet all operating costs of the fleet.
- Administer a fuel budget to ensure fuel is purchased at a reasonable cost and monitor status of fuel tanks to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
- Order necessary parts, monitor warranty claims, prepare specs for new equipment and process the disposition of older, unused equipment in order to maintain an efficient fleet which meets Talon Logistics, Inc.'s requirements.
- Communicate department goals and objectives to union team members and their representatives in order to develop a solid working relationship and help mechanics develop professionally.
- Manage a support team of non-union team members by communicating department goals and objectives and by providing timely and helpful feedback to help the team's development.
- Act in accordance with all Company safety policies and state and federal Department of Transportation guidelines in order to ensure complete compliance by all members of the fleet maintenance team.
