What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Controller position at Gilbane Building Company?
Overview
The Project Controller leads all financial administration and fiscal management aspects of a project, or multiple projects, ensuring that all team members, including Project Manager, Superintendent, and Engineer are following Gilbane financial policies and procedures, and communicating any potential profitability or risk to management.
Responsibilities
- Train and support project teams in all project accounting procedures
- Ensure accuracy and completion of project forecast
- Oversee project accountants
- Assist in the financial closing process, including development of cushion/risk analysis
- Act as an independent accountant during project forecast meetings to mitigate financial risk
- Evaluate change management for inconsistencies and risk impacts on projects
- Monitor key indicators for managing and analyzing risk projects, keeping Accounting Manager or Controller informed on any noted concerns

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
- 12 years with CM or General Contractor organization working on $100M or larger construction projects
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Proficient in CMiC
