Gilbane is seeking a results-driven and highly motivated Senior Business Development Manager to join our team with responsibilities for the geography in the state of Michigan. This person is the representative of the Company responsible for contacting, meeting and establishing new business relationships in various markets for the purpose of securing profitable relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently manage prospective clients and prospects in various stages of the sales process 
  • Report on planned and executed sales activities to appropriate levels of management
  • Generate a specified volume of business within an established time frame
  • Keep management apprised of current and anticipated market conditions
  • Build and maintain a strong network
  • Maintain memberships and participate in organizations and events
  • Maintain ongoing client relationships after project start-up
  • Consistently manage a full spectrum of clients and prospects in various stages of development
  • Develop targeted new clients in pre-prospect stage
  • Develop and execute effective capture strategies for focus prospects
  • Engage operations personnel and subject matter experts in sales process early and often
  • Develop understanding of issues affecting target markets 
  • Engage in articulate dialogue with client on issues pertinent to their market geography and/or sector 
  • Target client and prospect development in those portions of the market where Gilbane is well-positioned
  • Travel within the business unit and occasionally outside the business unit

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

 

  • BS or MS in Engineering, Architecture, Business or Marketing preferred
  • 10-15 years of business development and or operations experience within the design and construction industry, preferably in the metro Detroit area and in the education, corporate, pharmaceutical/life sciences, healthcare, criminal justice and industrial markets
  • Candidate must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce highly professional proposals and presentations.
  • Maintain professional memberships and participate in local or industry organizations and events.
