The opportunity

Lead quality processes for Charleston and Eden distribution centers, assuring quality management system, characteristics, objectives, and initiatives are executed and aligned to global quality strategy and business objectives. Lead customer testing for retail customers to ensure all goods are tested to customer requirements and protocols prior to shipment to customers.

The role

• Meet the Gildan quality system (GQS) requirements including documentation, work method and internal and external customer expectations related to process, product, or service.
• Execute and make sure the dispositions of Environment, Health and Safety are being complied with.
• Develop continuous training guidelines for Charleston and Eden DC Quality team to define clear specification to process and product needs.
• Generate and monitor quality reports for Charleston and Eden DCs to review performance indicators and highlight priorities.
• Define and execute action plans to align processes and characteristics to meet defined targets and standards.
• Contribute to Charleston and Eden DC management’s overall strategic operational plans to support a quality plan to meet monthly and yearly results.
• Contribute to the development of quality procedures, guidelines, and other documents to communicate quality specifications, strategy, and objectives such as quality specifications for DC auditing purposes.
• Communicate to Global Quality team regularly and escalate high priorities based on any quality issue returned to the Eden DC.
• Keep up to date product specifications, reports of plant performance, customer contacts and information, corporate processes and procedures and employee information.
• Provide direct supervision and support to the QA and Product Testing team.
• Coordinate and assure replacement of goods conforming to quality and product specification to avoid subsequent issues on any returned inventory.
• Assist in overseeing incoming audit of goods at the Charleston and Eden DCs as defined or required to follow up on any quality characteristics to assure inventory consistency.
• Provide feedback, quality alerts, and reporting to Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, and management for customer product issues and inquires.
• Oversee communication to Eden DC management on the daily operations of the department including contract rework and/or storage, embellishment programs, and “odds” inventory.
• Oversee and ensure all 3rd party testing is completed to satisfy customer requirements.
• Communicate with UL/CTL testing team.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

What you bring to the role

Knowledge & Professional Experience

• University degree and 5-9 years of related experience

Attributes

• Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or similar educational background.
• Bilingual (Spanish, English) preferred.
• Five or more years’ experience managing personnel in multiple locations preferred.
• Prior textile industry experience, ideally activewear and hosiery, required.
• Quality assurance experience required.
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) required.
• Extensive knowledge of AATCC and ASTM test methods needed.
• Extensive knowledge and relationship with 3rd party testing laboratories required.
• Knowledge of FTC rules and regulations governing fiber content and labeling required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Demonstrated background in analytical and innovative/creative thinking.
• Must be proactive and internal/external customer focused.
• Hearing is required to hear instructions, receive information from various sources, and understand safety warnings
• Vision is required to read instructions, interpret data, and formulate metrics
