Mama Hattie’s House – Project Manager
Girl Power Rocks, Inc. (GP), is a Miami, FL, based 501(c)3 non-profit with a twenty-year history of serving at-promise girls and their families/caregivers through trauma focused evidenced-based programs and services. GP’s strength lies in its gender specific safe spaces and signature programs which include Girls’ Rock After-School, Sister Circle Mentoring, Girls Intervention Program
PLUS, and Girls’ Choir of Miami.
GP is at a vital moment in its trajectory. The agency is anticipating the development and opening of
Mama Hattie’s House (MHH), Social, Educational and Residential Complex in addition to operating its day-to-day programs and services. As such, Girl Power, Inc. is seeking to hire a
Project Manager to research best practices and program models to support the goals of MHH, reporting to the CEO, and collaborating closely with senior staff and Board of Directors.
The Mama Hattie’s House project will:
- Provide a home for Girl Power’s existing programs and staff.
- Create safe residences for 20 or more girls (ages 13-17) at risk of sex trafficking.
- Create independent living residences for up to 20 girls (ages 18 ) who are aging out of foster care or otherwise need a safe and nurturing place to live while they prepare to live on their own.
- Create entrepreneur-supporting programs and opportunities for MHH residents, neighbors, and community partners – a neighborhood ‘bodega’, community event & art spaces, co- working office, and maker spaces.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MHH Program Research & Design
- Assist the CEO to research best practices and program models to support the goals of MHH for each population.
- Research entrepreneur incubator/support programs and assist the CEO and MHH Committee in implementing them over the course of the project.
- Assist the CEO to create program operating budgets and staffing models in support of MHH residents.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of an entire project through budgeting, hiring team members, sourcing suppliers, and planning the project release.
- Help to coordinate and manage project tasks and deliverables.
- Analyze data as required.
- Track and report project progress.
- Establish realistic goals and implement action plans for achieving set objectives.
- Guide and direct project team members to ensure compliance with set standards and procedures.
- Evaluate the progress of the project to detect limitations or faults to seek solutions to a more efficient process.

Communications & Community Networking
- Work with the local community to identify new opportunities and programs to develop and implement for MHH.
- Communicate and network with partner organizations to identify future co-occupants of the
MHH building and revenue-generating uses for the building community spaces.
- Create and edit communications in reference to the MHH project, in conjunction with CEO and Director of Development.
- Liaison with project stakeholders concerning project details and deliverables.
- Update social media accounts, as needed.
Fundraising & Development
- Support the CEO and Director of Development in networking and community outreach, as part of Girl Power’s fundraising work for MHH.
- Research and identify grants and other fundraising opportunities in support of MHH proposed programming.
- Assist in the planning, promotion, and execution of events in support of MHH, as needed.
Project Budget & Pro Forma
- Assist the CEO in managing the budget and project operations in this ‘pre-construction’ phase.
- Support the update of a project budget (pro forma) that provides a solid financial picture of project costs, funding, and anticipated cash flows.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in project management or a related discipline preferred.
- 5 years of experience in non-profit, people and resource management are essential to the position and the needs of this population.
- Leadership skills: able to direct the operations of a project to ensure set goals are achieved.
- Problem-solving skills: able to apply project management principles and methodologies in seeking solutions to project problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for improving the lives of at-risk girls.
Desired: PMP and/or Six Sigma certifications.
