This is seasonal position. Room, board, training, and pay are provided with this position.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To direct and coordinate the development of the overall camp program and assume the responsibilities of the camp director when the director or assistant camp director is not on site.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Camp Director

MANDATORY Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age or older

General Qualifications:

  • Experience supervising young adults.
  • Knowledge of general camp programs.
  • Ability to plan and organize large events for multiple age groups.
  • Create a safe, healthy and fun environment for the camp staff in order to help them perform at their best.

Specific Qualifications/Duties:

  • Develop and implement the All Camp programs including, but not limited to: opening campfires, special events, meal activities.
  • Receive, review and approve all unit paperwork including time off schedules, and program plans, and food requisitions.
  • Supervise and delegate responsibilities for cookout night.
  • Submitting themes for each week and details of activities for the week before camp staff training.
  • Organize and deliver all pack outs throughout each week.
  • Ensure that all counselors have good quality programming each week specific to their session description.
  • Schedule special guests to come to camp for specific programming (i.e. Police
  • Department for a Detective Session or a chef for a Cooking session).
  • Check each week that each session receives their badge sheets and earned badges for the week.
  • Work with the Arts and Crafts Director to plan decorations for each themed week at camp.
  • Coordinate with the Business Manager when receiving any receipts in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the opening and closing of camp including inventories of all program supplies.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of Pre-Camp Training.
  • Assist where needed for camper activities.
  • Assists in conducting staff meetings.
  • Uphold all standards and policies as set forth by GSUSA, GSHS, ACA.
  • Carry out other responsibilities as designated by the director.

Essential Functions:

  • Be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Be able to carry 20 pounds through varying elevations.
  • Walk, hike, and run in varying terrain and elevations.
