Your role is crucial in collecting data that informs our strategies and in nurturing strong relationships with the council, board members, our members, and the wider community to elevate the Girl Scouts program. Your strategic acumen will guide developing and implementing plans that adhere to our ethical standards and policies. Leading our development team, you'll drive us toward expanding support and awareness, making a lasting impact in the lives of the girls we serve in Maine.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Design, implement, and manage an integrated, comprehensive, and balanced fund development program that ensures all annual and long-term fundraising goals are met.
2. Create an annual Fund Development plan and engage the board of directors in donor stewardship and cultivation in partnership with the chief executive officer.
3. Identify potential sources and raise philanthropic funds from individuals, corporations, foundations, planned giving and major gifts; maintain relationships with current and past donors.
4. Establish fund development policies, procedures, plans, goals, and budgets; interpret and implement policies.
5. In collaboration with our MarComm team, oversee the creation of materials and communications to support fundraising strategies, events, and campaigns.
6. Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating fund development department staff; organizing and directing work toward the achievement of council objectives.
7. Oversee the management of grants and donor database.
8. Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team–working with team members to implement strategic plan
9. Staff advisor to development committee chair–provides assistance and implementation of activities and idea development by committee.
10. Develop a depth of knowledge regarding the design of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and can easily articulate to any stakeholder the virtues of the organization.
11. Oversight and management of special events including virtual events.
12. Active participation in the development and support of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.
13. Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, and cloud-based technology.
8. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
9. Some travel throughout council jurisdiction.
10. Capability to provide own transportation and maintain valid operator license.
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s or higher or equivalent experience with 7 years of directly related work experience, and at least 5 years of leadership experience. Advanced degree preferred.
2. Minimum 3 years of upper management experience in fund development with an excellent track record in major gifts, planned giving, and annual funding.
3. Proven record of managing others through strategic execution and goal achievement including at C-Level.
4. Experience building and supporting high-functioning teams are essential. Demonstrated ability to foster cross-functional collaboration, inclusion, and integration for Council success.
5. Proven grant-writing expertise.
6. Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar donor software program desired.
7. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred.
8. Must have access to personal transportation for business travel and have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
9. Must subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become a registered member of GSUSA
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand:
1. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Operate office equipment manually.
3. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.
