Position Summary
The Retail Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the coordinated operation of all retail functions and retail locations in the council, including satellite locations and mobile shops. Works collaboratively with members of the council management team to establish sales objectives, and develop and implement annual sales, expense, and profit plans. The Retail Coordinator develops the annual marketing plans to promote and stimulate the sale of Girl Scout merchandise while meeting the needs of girls, adult members, employed staff and visitors.
Compensation
Hourly range $17-$20, commensurate with experience and skillset.
Location
Woodhaven Service and Resource Center, 2303 37th Street, Kenosha, WI 53140 with frequent travel to Milwaukee Resource Center, 131 S. 69th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53214.
Requirements
What You’ll Do
- Works collaboratively with members of the council management team to develop a sales, expense, and profit plan with supports the business and program objectives of the council and that meets the needs of the council membership.
- Formulates council-wide pricing policies on merchandise according to planned profitability of retail operations.
- Ensures coordination with all non-merchandising functions including accounting, marketing, membership, program, communications, and business operations to obtain optimum efficiency of operations and minimize costs.
- Develops the annual marketing plan with Girl Scout Merchandising (GSM) out-based retail consultants.
- Reviews and analyzes sales data, operating and financial statements to identify merchandising opportunities and liabilities that require additional promotion or other initiatives to achieve business objectives.
- Develops store hours of operation, schedules, and staffing plans for all retail outlets that provide shopping convenience and outstanding customer service.
- Develops and establishes an inventory control system. Conducts periodic and annual inventories and maintains accurate inventory controls to meet seasonal and special needs of the council’s customers.
- Reviews policies and procedures for retail operations, and ensures appropriate standards and execution are in place, including customer and community relations protocols.
- Develops and manages assigned operating budget. Monitors expenses to ensure that the retail operation is within the council’s approved budget.
- Ensures high quality services to all internal and external customers and presents a positive image of Girl Scouting. Develops and maintains positive and productive working relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Assist the effective development and retention of high performing retail staff and ensures they are organized and deployed appropriately to achieve successful operating results.
- Active participation in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
Who You Are & Keys to Success
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to coach and develop high-performance teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Power Point, Word, and Excel.
- Familiarity in a Customer Service/Sales/Retail or other applicable software platform OR One to three years’ experience with computerized cash register operation. (this is what was listed in the Retail Customer service roles)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and some weekends.
- Valid driver’s license with use of own vehicle is required for travel throughout council jurisdiction up to 50% of the time.
- Compliance with the council’s policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council’s business auto insurance carrier in order to drive to the multiple sites.
- Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and joining as a Girl Scout member which includes paying a membership fee, either annually or as a life-time member.
- The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee should be able to withstand operate office equipment manually and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds at times.
- Willing to hear, reflect, act on, and learn from feedback regarding identity and equity.
- 3 years of experience in retail sales.
- Customer-service oriented with the ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with a wide range of people.
- Ability to exercise discretion when handling potentially confidential or sensitive matters.
- Excellent time management skills; ability to take initiative to solve problems and work with a minimum of supervision and function well as a member of a team.
- Accurate, organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work under pressure and shift priorities in response to changing needs.
These Skills are a Plus
- Proficient in Salesforce, Looker software platforms.
- Two plus years of managerial experience in a retail or similar environment.
- Bachelor’s or higher or equivalent experience with four years of directly related work experience.
- 5 years of experience in retail sales.
