Join us! As our next Quality Specialist, reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, you will support the shop floor, quality control, quality system and improvement programs to lead quality performance, mindset and customer satisfaction at the site level. This position is located in South Hackensack, NJ.
In this exciting role, you will be responsible for:
- Ensure that the necessary processes of the Quality Assurance Department are in place, including handling customer returns and deviation preparation, follow-up and closure.
- Support non-conformance management.
- Review batch records and production traceability records and report any deviation to the QA manager.
- Collect water samples to submit to QC at different water source points in the production area. Perform environmental analysis by doing monthly swab tests.
- Report to the QA management system about food safety and any need for improvement in the methods, materials, equipment, and work environment, taking into consideration customer requirements and regulatory requirements.
- Implement continuous improvement through participation in internal audits.
- Participate in Customer Audit and certification audits such as NSF, FSSC22000, Kosher, Halal, NOP, including
- Schedule and prepare records for internal audits (Hygiene, system, glass, pest control).
- Train staff on requirements for the following sectors: Our requirements, GMP’s, Allergen, HACCP, Food Defense, Halal, customer requirements.
- Prepare CAPA (corrective and preventative actions) and monitor the deadlines. Follow up CAPA up until the verification of effectiveness.
- Update records, including SOPs, forms and posters, and ensure that current versions are available both on paper and electronically.
- Perform daily inspections of production and warehouse areas to ensure and monitor compliance with GMP’s.
- Participate in the annual HACCP and management review.
- Support local shop floor quality systems and improvement projects.
- Support troubleshooting of local issues related to their area of expertise.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Technical Competencies:
- Project management skills.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing technologies and product characteristics (such as liquids, spray drying, powder blending)
- Basic understanding of food safety and quality systems (such as FSSC, AIB, ISO, GMP, and HACCP) that are relevant to the assigned area of activity.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical or science-related bachelor's degree or equivalent education with a track record.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a related food safety role.
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
