What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Packager position at GKI Foods, LLC?
GKI is a private label chocolate manufacturer. We produce raw goods into finished chocolate treats. Be a part of the industry that puts a smile on people's faces and makes their hearts happy. Be the last point of contact before that product is shipped off.
Summary/Objective
Set up workstation per production schedule. Package production items in proper shipping unit, verify weight of each unit to be shipped and placed on correct order. Reject items that are not up to quality and sanitary standards.
Essential Functions
1. Completes all necessary audits that is required to maintain BRC and safety standards
2. Makes suggestions on improving work procedures
3. Must be able to develop good organizational skills as to allow for timely production flow and filling orders
4. Confer with packaging leader and supervisor as to production flow and sequence.
5. Set up workstation and make sure needed supplies are in place and ready to run.
6. Check immediate work area, correct or report potential safety hazards or unsanitary conditions.
7. Watch for potential allergen/cross contamination issues.
8. Assist in running, changeovers, and troubleshooting of the line
9. Double check labels, codes, weights, and packing materials to make sure orders are prepared as specified.
10. Package candy as it is produced. Watch for rejects of damaged items during production runs (sorting as needed)
11. Verifies correct product on work orders
12. Inserts or pours product into containers or empty containers into elevator
13. Weighs containers and adjusts quantity
14. Closes and seals containers
15. Runs product through metal detector
16. Labels containers, container tags or product
17. Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of the packaging process
18. Performs necessary cleaning at the beginning and end of each shift

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard Confectionary equipment. This position requires most of the work to be performed on the manufacturing floor in an area that requires hearing protection at all times. This role uses finished products and requires sanitation, good hygiene and good manufacturing practices to be applied.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Throughout the day, the employee will need to lift up to 30 lbs. of material.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Saturday, 5 am to 2:30 pm. Times may fluctuate depending on department and during the year to accommodate production schedules.
Required Education and Experience
Some college or experience in related fields: operations, business, food preparation, safety standards
Qualifications
1. At least 5 year of experience working in a manufacturing and food environment.
2. Demonstrate skill in using production entry systems.
3. Basic; math, writing, speaking and spelling skills

Pay: $17.50 - $20.00 per hour
