JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Operations Manager
Purpose: This position is responsible for all aspects and functions of production operations from raw material reception through finished goods. Responsbile to manage production operations to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction, productivity, schedule adherence and business goals. The plant role for the Operations Manager is local, but this position may be responsible for working on regional projects as required.
Reports to: Plant Director
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage plant performance through data analysis to ensure business decisions are made appropriately and are aligned with the business goals.
- Manage plant expenditures to budget
- Manage and coach Production and Team Leads to ensure day-to-day customer and business requirements are met through production and resource deployment
- Communicate regularly with senior management, direct reports and other departments to positively address manufacturing needs and constraints
- Facilitate continuous improvement activities in all aspects of manufacturing
- Manage employee relations by administering and facilitating company policies or procedures in accordance with employment laws and GKN policy
- Communicate consistently and effectively to all employee representatives, external suppliers, management team and customers as appropriate.
Communicate goals, conditions and current state of the company to employees on a regular and as-needed basis.
- Support the development of direct reports via Personal Development
Plans (PDPs), reviews and feedback
- Promote culture of safety and sustainability in addition to developing strategies and addressing opportunities for improvement within production operations.
- Support employee engagement activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or Operations Management preferred
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and working knowledge of statistical techniques, data analysis and root cause analysis tools
- Demonstrated progression in manufacturing leadership preferred.
- Prior manufacturing experience required.
