What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assembly Team Lead position at GKN?
Key Responsibilities
- Fill in for absenteeism, vacations, or other manpower shortages. Provide relief when operators need to be away from their work area.
- Deploy direction from Value Stream Leader or Supervisor on daily staffing, rotation, and scheduling decisions including coverage for breaks, lunches, etc.
- Facilitate Team Start of Shift meeting and End of Shift review meeting for assigned areas and participate in other site communication meetings as necessary.
- React to abnormalities by utilizing problem solving techniques and follow escalation process.
- Update daily metrics on the PVD board such as pareto’s, Key Process Indicators(KPI’s),Quality, and Safety.
- Conduct layered process audits.
- Identify any Continuous Improvement activities that drive:
- KPI’s back to standard or better than standard
- Improved tooling/equipment performance
- Improved work palce organization and overall process flow improvements
- Must be a current advanced operator or obtain advanced operator status and pass the assessment within 90 days from the start of performing the team leader role.
- Promote and maintain a positive team atmosphere by coaching, recognizing, and providing constructive feedback to the team.
- Provide input to Value Stream Leaders on employee performance and development.
- Conduct employee training.
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement activities.
- Comply with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Insure that correct process control and associated documentation is utilized.
- Routine and regular execution of Leadership Standard Work(LSW).
- Ensure Housekeeping and 5S standards are being adhered to.
- Input into creation of Standard Work and responsible for revisions of Standard Work.
- Become actively engaged in Visual Management, AM’s, Kaizens, Standard Work, 5s and Lost Time Analysis(LTA).
- Identify and correct any potential safety hazards.
- Responsibility for completing Sort Reports, Risk assessments, and Crash Reports when necessary.
- Confirm hourly tracking is updated on time and downtime is recorded accurately and understandable.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualification and Skills
Essential
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Desirable
- Five or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in an ISO9000 or QS9000 environment is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Lean Enterprise experience.
- Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, MS Project, MfgPro)
- ISO 14001/18000, Quality – TS16949, Lean Enterprise to include kaizan activities, SPC, KPI’s, Problem solving tools, KanBan, and Basic Financial metric understanding (CIP)
