Our client is a leading environmentally and socially progressive, mining, heavy building materials company located in the South of Florida. They are an independent, multi-regional producer of cement and other related building materials. their products include cement, aggregate, ready-mixed concrete and fly ash beneficiation. Our client has a record of continuous growth since its establishment in 1902. It has expanded its production and distribution operations into 13 countries, employing more than 5,500 people. Their products protect human life and personal property, improve the quality of life, generate economic prosperity and connect society.

We have an excellent opportunity for an Mining SHA Safety Manager at our client’s Medley, FL facility. This exempt position will report directly to the Assistant Safety Director, and will be responsible for providing technical support in implementing and monitoring the MSHA safety program of the company.

Mining SHA Health and Safety Responsibilities:

· Development, implementation and monitoring of, but not limited to, the following training: new miner, newly hired experienced miner, task, annual refresher and hazard communication

· Development, implementation and monitoring of site inspections and corrective action programs. Must coordinate team efforts to solve problems and implement required actions. Must maintain appropriate administrative documentation for these programs

· Conduct accident investigations with safety team

· Provides direction and leadership to the company Safety Committee and ERT and facilitates communication between members and Management.

· Manage appropriate statistical information regarding safety for the facility and for appropriate governmental agencies (MSHA, DMME)

· Write policies that achieve governing agency compliance and are applicable to the operation

· Develops and maintains programs to maintain hygiene, noise, ventilation, etc. and recommends measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes or materials.

· Monitor compliance with Workers' Compensation Act and Regulations as well as ensuring proper and timely reporting of injuries and follow all claims to completion. Keep abreast of changes to all applicable health and safety laws and regulations and counsel management on the direction of future health and safety legislation. Manage the claims management program including the modified work program.

Required Skills:

· Excellent leadership and management skills

. Minimum of 4 years of experience working for a mining location in EHS.

· Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

· Analytical and strategic planning. Must be capable of handling numerous projects concurrently

· Ability to independently learn and understand technical, regulatory, and external issues regarding MSHA safety programs at the plant

· Ability to positively interact with regulatory agencies to ensure understanding of requirements

· Ability to independently audit and inspect industrial operations, identifying compliant or non-compliant safety issues, and effectively communicate those findings to management

· Ability to independently develop, lead, and implement effective compliance strategies and management systems

· Ability to communicate with internal and external parties in a collaborative, positive manner, representing the Company’s interests

· Solid computer skills; must be capable of working with common business software (word processing, spreadsheets, emails, etc.) effectively

Experience:

· B.S. degree in Occupational Safety and Health or closely related fields is required

· 5-7 years in combination of experience with Mining SHA Safety positions in heavy industrial installations, or related experience.

· Experience and demonstrated ability managing safety programs

· Working knowledge of State and Local Regulations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
