Project Engineer (Glanbia Nutritionals Services, LLC, Corona, CA)
Oversee Capital Expenditure Projects relating to automation and process upgrades of the company’s facility and equipment including process automation hardware and software. This oversight includes business pursuits/proposals, assessing project needs/service requirements, setting budget, and forming project teams to ensure all sites are adequately resourced and supported both internally and externally to address daily issues and progression plans. Create automation plans for the company’s manufacturing plants. Drive advancements to make equipment smarter and to provide real time information that allows the operations leaders to make key decisions. Manage project economics (billing, resources, hours) and service expectations (work products, timing, deliverables. Lead GN specialties and automation CapEx projects while following pertinent agency regulations (safety, security, quality, etc.). Develop project package for review and approval from the executive management team. Prepare status reports and schedule/attend meetings detailing progress and cost for top management project review. Provide cost estimating and developing projects scope & budget. Maintain heat map of all critical infrastructure that dictates when capital is needed to change, upgrade, replace. Review/negotiate bid documents with vendors while assessing for competence, capabilities, and resources. Hold daily calls with sites PM's for projects progress/status. Develop/edit automation code (PLC & HMI) in key processes, addressing issues as they arise. Provide automation technical support and troubleshooting assistance. Address work orders
and issues with the process that prevent the operation from running. Ensure all hardware at project sites is kept up to date, routine service checks are completed, and upgrades are performed in a timely manner. Work side by side with site managers to ensure key priorities are hit in process automation network, driving efficiencies and visibility over unit operations. Allocate local & external resources in order to meet the production targets & projects timeline. Design methods for maintaining or increasing production efficiencies. Generate functional description for process optimization and review P&IDs to identify potential gains/opportunities. Schedule VOC (Voice of the Customer) meetings and review with plant managers and team leads. Develop process recommendations with documentation supporting process changes utilizing the Pareto concept. Provide remote and site support for automation and electrical issues across the GN specialties. Up to 50% domestic travel and up to 10% international travel to company manufacturing plants required. Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting must report to 575 Alcoa Circle, Corona CA 92878. Salary: $157,082 - $170,000 per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as a Process Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Automation Engineer, or any occupation/position/job title involving facility and equipment engineering.
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience, the employer will accept 7 years of professional experience as a Process Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Automation Engineer, or any occupation/position/job title involving facility and equipment engineering.
Must also have experience in the following: 5 years of professional experience working with Allen-Bradley PLC ControlLogix Platform and development Tools; 5 years of professional experience performing SCADA/HMI design, configuration, programing, testing, and troubleshooting; 5 years of professional experience working with closed loop controls and tuning; 5 years of professional experience working with NEC and NFPA 70; 5 years of professional experience performing engineering related project management; 5 years of professional experience reading, interpreting, and complying with technical documents and drawings including safety policies/practices, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; 5 years of professional experience writing routine reports and correspondence; 5 years of professional experience applying advanced mathematical concepts including exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations as well as nonverbal symbolism.
