What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audiologist position at GLBH?
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for providing a full range of
diagnostic, consultative, and rehabilitative audiology services to patients and
families. Help provide technology and education with respect to amplification
as part of the rehabilitative services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Patient Engagement:
- Performs hearing aid evaluations and dispenses hearing aids
- Obtains case history and administers diagnostic tests to determine nature, degree, and type of hearing problems
- Consults with patients on the nature of hearing loss and communicative problems
- Develops individualized treatment programs or referrals
- Plans and directs patient treatment programs
- Order and repair processing
- All patients who qualify will be offered information as to the following:
- STAP
- Extended warranties (for hearing aids up to five years of age such that no instrument over five years is warrantied for more than a year)
Operational:
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner
- Keeps equipment in good working condition
- Ensure all diagnostic equipment is turned off at the end of the day
- Report inventory usage to inventory control manager
- Report inventory needs to inventory control manager
- Complete Audiology Tracking Report
Outreach:
- Participate in health fairs
- Network in community based events in order to promote practice
- Participate in professional development activities
- Maintain professional affiliations
- Maintain professional continuing education hours
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Participate in planning annual goals for self and meeting expectations
- Prior to any appointment, provider prepares for the appointment relative to review of prior appointment notes and patient needs
- Patient appointment outcomes will be entered in the patient record on the same day as the patient appointment
- Patient reports
- will be sent to the primary care and referring physician within 48 hours of new patient appointment
- will be sent to the primary care and referring physician within 48 hours of current patient annual follow up appointment
- DARS reports will be sent out no later than 48 hours post appointment
- Audiology tracking report to be completed and turned in no later than 5pm every Friday for that week’s patient encounters
- Orders and repairs will be readied for shipment on the same day as the instrument order or repair appointment is completed
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings, to be held at least monthly
- Patient Engagement
- Appointments will be seen on time with a maximum 10 minute wait
- If the prior appointment is running behind (even within the 10 minute window), the provider will notify the PCP so that the subsequent (waiting) patient may be told
- Provider calls the patient 3 days post fit for follow up
- Practice employee manual will be acknowledged in writing and adhered to consistently
EDUCATION: AuD
SKILLS:
- Skill in building healthy rapport with patients and office staff
- Skill in being an excellent TEAM player, and follow instructions
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public
- Ability to operate audiology equipment
- Ability to set priorities among multiple requests
