Great Lakes Bay Health Centers (GLBHC) is a community health center umbrella made up of 32 locations throughout the Great Lakes Bay region and beyond. Most locations are set up to serve medically underserved populations, but our doors are open to anyone regardless of insurance or lack of insurance. JOB SUMMARY
The Human Resources (HR) Intern will provide clerical support for the daily functions of the HR Department in a timely, professional manner utilizing discretion, confidentiality, and good judgement.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

1. Provide a variety of support to the HR department. This may include, but is not limited to:

- Establishing, maintaining, and updating both electronic and paper filing systems.
- Retrieving and filing information from and into filing systems as requested.
- Answering and directing phone calls and walk-ins for the HR Department.
- Taking detailed messages and or fielding calls to appropriate staff.
- Answering routine questions, if appropriate.
- Maintaining basic cleanliness and organization of HR office(s).
2. Attend and participate in various meetings, events, and committees as assigned.
3. Assist in identifying, creating, implementing, and evaluating efficient and effective methods, practices, policies, procedures, and strategies based on department needs, organization needs, and industry standards as needed.
4. Expand and maintain knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and other employment and labor laws and regulations to ensure continuous compliance of the department and organization.
MARGINAL JOB DUTIES
1. Performs other duties as assigned which may include special projects and reports.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
1. Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. No experience in HR required.
- One (1) or more years of experience in an office setting preferred.
- Associate degree in related field preferred.
- UKG (UltiPro) experience preferred.
2. Licensure:
- None required.
- HR related certification or license preferred.
3. Skills:
- Must have and exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have an ability to manage varying levels of stress in a healthy, professional manner.
- Must be well organized and detail oriented.
- Must be able to work independently and self-start.
- Must be understanding and flexible of changing priorities and situations.
- Must be able to type and utilize a computer, Microsoft office, and HRIS software efficiently.
- Must be able to relate to diverse populations in a professional and courteous manner.
- Must be able to make recommendations and apply solutions that effectively resolve problems using judgment that is consistent with the organization’s standards, practices, policies, regulations, and laws.
- Must have a strong commitment to fairness and equal opportunity.
- Must have an ability to coach and be coached by others while being objective through complex, difficult, and or emotional situations.
4. Physical Effort:
- Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday.
- Must be able to lift, push, and or pull up to twenty-five (25) lbs on occasion.
5. Hours of Work:
- Temporary, expires after 760 total hours worked.
- Schedule is flexible and varied.
- Must maintain regular and timely attendance.
- Hybrid schedule is not available for this position.
6. Travel:
- This position should not require travel. In the event of travel, it will be limited to within GLBHC's service area and requires utilizing a personal vehicle.
- Mileage reimbursement is offered based on GLBHC policy.
