Position Summary:
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) has the overall responsibility for the organization, administration, and operation of the assigned areas/services and the associated cost centers within the clinical team. The CNO manages assigned departments, participates in administrative decision-making, long-range planning activities, risk management, quality assurance, and patient experience.
Plans, organizes and directs activities of the professional and support staff engaged in patient care delivery. Interprets, implements and carries out administrative policies and procedures, and regulates activities of hospital inpatient and outpatient units. Analyzes and evaluates patient care services rendered; and delegates administrative and/or supervisory responsibilities to nursing and other professional management staff.
Qualifications:
Professional knowledge of nursing practices, theories, management and research, basic statistics, and healthcare legislation typically acquired through completion of a Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Hospital Administration or other closely related field to gain full understanding of clinical services functions.
Approximately five to seven years of experience necessary to gain a thorough understanding of hospital and clinical services functions, hospital standards and procedures, and applicable state, federal and auditing agency regulations, and to effectively organize and direct unit activities.
Advanced interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively with a wide variety of influential hospital personnel, community residents and outside agency officials when handling highly sensitive issues, gathering and exchanging information, and promoting and maintaining good public relations.
Advanced analytical skills necessary to develop and implement new systems, techniques and/or procedures determine needs for capital equipment and personnel, improve the functioning of assigned departments, and prepare complex, special and recurring reports or analyses.

This fully benefits eligible position is a 1.0 FTE.
