SALARY: Salary as determined by the administrative salary schedule

approved by the GUHSD Governing Board.

SUMMARY: Supervises District Business Office. This is one position within the Business Office. The applicant selected will be assigned the title of Director of Business or Business Manager based on experience in meeting job qualifications, expertise and experience in school finance and accounting. The Director of Business title requires a higher level of experience and/or supervisory experience. The assigned title and salary placement will be commensurate with skill-set and experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains punctual and regular attendance.
  • Maintains District Accounting Records in accordance with state and federal requirements. Manages

technology for District Financial Management System (Visions).

  • Maintains reconciliation reports and monitoring reports. Prepares and publishes Annual Financial Report. Assists with Budget preparation
  • Departmental oversight of Payroll, Accounting, Grants and Medicaid.
  • Coordinates financial audits by independent CPA's, Arizona Auditor General and Workers' Compensation carrier.
  • Coordinates the District Insurance Committee and facilitates committee meetings
  • Assists with special reporting including but not limited to: financial information for district departments and benefit providers.
  • Prepares various tax filings.
  • Administers records retention program in accordance with Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records requirements.
  • Attends Arizona Association of School Business Officials Meetings.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Chief Financial Officer.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position supervises all employees in Accounting and Payroll.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
