GCS is seeking skilled and detail-oriented Environmental Data Entry Technicians. This role is crucial in processing and managing environmental data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data entry, familiarity with environmental data, and experience with GIS platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Input, update, and review data in the database with high accuracy and efficiency.
- Translate and process digital files into formats suitable for database entry.
- Perform quality control checks on entered data, including verification of feature records and site records.
- Utilize GIS platforms to ensure accurate georeferencing of spatial data.
- Assist in generating digital map products using the GIS platform.
- Collaborate with the Task Manager and GCS team members to resolve data inconsistencies and improve overall data quality.
- Participate in peer review processes to maintain data accuracy and consistency.
- Assist in developing and implementing data cleaning protocols.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation for data improvement processes.
- Engage in ongoing training to stay current with environmental data management and GIS technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in data entry, preferably with environmental or scientific data.
- Proficiency in database management systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with GIS software, preferably ESRI ArcGIS.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage large volumes of data.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with environmental databases.
- Experience with optical character recognition (OCR) technology.
- Familiarity with quality control processes in data management.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and operate a computer for extended periods.
- Visual acuity to review detailed data and work with GIS applications.
