Global Furniture USA is one of the premier importers and distributors of fine home furnishings in the United States, as well as a prominent player in the international market.

Founded in 1999, we have grown in just 24 years into a leading national furniture brand. Our experienced salesforce operates in all major markets throughout the U.S., as well as Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and the Middle East, and we are consistently growing our operations in Asia.

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our financial operations and manage and direct the accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management functions of the company. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in accounting, finance, and operations management and be able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. This is a “hands-on” role and you will have the opportunity to get involved with many aspects of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the company, including A/R, A/P, inventory management, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and best practices.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including the preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports.
  • Develop and maintain accurate budgets and financial forecasts that align with the company's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize the financial performance of the business, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor cash flow and oversee cash management activities, including banking relationships, credit management, and treasury functions.
  • Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize the return on any excess cash balances
  • Review and recordation of journal entries required to reflect the monthly activity
  • Coordinate activities of external auditors, prepare support schedules for year-end processes, prepare K-1’s for annual tax returns, and assist with any other tax related inquiries
  • Manage and mentor the accounting and finance team, providing guidance and support as needed to ensure their success.
  • Prepare annual budget, go-forward forecast, performance analysis of profit centers, and analytical reporting as required
  • Identify and measure cost-cutting initiatives, growth strategies, and critical success factors

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite a huge plus), Microsoft Excel, and financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards achieving common goals.
