Position Overview:

The Technical Systems Engineer will own the work they perform and contribute to the growth of the organization as we scale into a true global provider of electronic security services, providing turnkey, white glove, services to our clientele. The Technical Systems Engineer plans, executes, monitors, controls, and delivers the completed project to our clients, start to finish. Their technical skills and experience in the electronic security industry will prove valuable to their success. They will be a core member of the team; customer facing, results driven, and ensuring the protection of people, property, and product.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all assigned installation and service projects are managed properly in accordance with Global Guardian Asset Security Technology policies and procedures.
  • Manages and supports subcontractors and other trade partners.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage projects and project plans, and provide training where required.
  • Manages client expectations and contractual obligations.
  • Perform Installation and Service of various video, access control, locking hardware, intrusion, intercom, and other low voltage systems to ensure delivery to contract/scope of work as outlined in project documentation.
  • Configure, test, and commission network and other communications equipment to confirm connectivity locally and at GSOC for monitoring.
  • Maintain a high level of programming knowledge in IP Video Surveillance Systems, Access Control Systems, and related technologies.
  • Interface with voice, telecommunications, and network personnel in support of SOC hardware, services, and vendors as needed.
  • Manage and or support special projects, as needed.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
  • Provide on-call support and response as needed. Remote or physical response as necessary dependent of client and issue.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in electronic security field in technician role.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; College degree in technology/network related field preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a reliable means of transportation.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Low voltage systems certifications preferred.
  • State low voltage licensed preferred.
  • Experience with various security system platforms and related equipment including, but not limited, to NVRs, cameras, access control systems, intrusion systems, fire alarm systems, intercom systems, and respective software (Avigilon, Hanwha, Axis, Milestone, Exacq Vision, Lenel, S2, Ademco, DMP, Bosch, Alarm.com)
  • A general understanding of IP addressing.
  • Ability to write technical documentation and markup job documentation/plans.
  • Ability to organize and perform job duties within a constantly changing environment.
  • Works independently with the ability to make decisions on demand to meet customers' expectations.
  • Experience with firewalls such as Fortinet, networking equipment (routers and switches)
  • Ability to analyze data and services and make appropriate recommendations to improve service/reduce cost.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and accurately resolve problems.
  • General knowledge in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Skill in clear and concise oral and written communication
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Ability to understand and follow company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal and external clients and/or associates. 

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Client sites residential, commercial, and industrial
  • Regular travel, local and national and for extended durations. Potential to stay over weekends where necessary.
  • Flexibility to work beyond regular working hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Varying shifts and extended hours. Occasional weekend work.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver equipment overhead weighing upwards of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate lifts and/or work at extension ladder heights to conduct installations.
  • Ability to enter crawl spaces and/or attic spaces for cable pathway and/or device installation.
