What does it mean to be a Vice President, Strategy, Pricing, and Credit Risk?

The leader in this role will take complete ownership of several established and emerging auto finance business lines at GLS.  The role will be tasked with continuing to maintain current lines of business coupled with exploring key expansion opportunities as well as establishing new product lines from inception.  The role is a senior leadership position reporting to the Chief Product Officer and will come with frequent interaction with GLS’ executive management team.

How will you drive value within the organization?
  • Profitability and P&L Ownership:
  • Processing costs, application efficiencies, and loan economics coalesce into overall profitability of GLS lines of business.  The leader in this role will ultimately be responsible for driving overall contribution of the channel’s profitability to GLS and will be tasked with establishing, understanding, tracking, maintaining, and improving overall and unit economics of key channels.  Responsibilities in this domain will cover a spectrum inclusive of data usage / costs, vendor sourcing, loan economics, and capital costs coupled with the business strategies implored to drive optimal profitability.
  • Channel Growth:
  • Will drive all organic growth initiatives for the channels under purview.  The scope of this responsibility will span from (1) working with finance and capital markets to establish, develop, and source capital to (2) working with sales and operations to expand lines of business to (3) business development with external partners and vendors to establish and grow new relationships.
  • Credit and Product Ownership:
  • Ownership of all pricing and credit strategy within key lines business for strategic (return targets, pricing approach, loss levels), proactive (scorecard development, pricing model development, credit policy expansions and testing), and reactive (monitoring, reporting, governance adherence) objectives.
  • Market Monitoring:
  • Understanding of the competitive product, pricing, and credit policy landscape to monitor for market changes in addition to the continued search for expansion opportunities relative to key competitors.


What should you already know to be successful in this role?
  • Ability to think strategically and deliver tactically.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills that combine a technical / analytical nature in execution, but a strong intuition and motivation to simplify complex problems to root causes and outcomes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.  Friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years relevant analytics experience; preferred 5 years credit analytics experience in secured or unsecured loan products.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Team player that can adapt in a fast pace and changing environment.
  • Commitment to exemplifying the organizational core values and key competencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead a team - provide quality training, guidance, performance coaching and feedback to assigned staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and demonstrated ability to effectively set and manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and enhance processes to improve business results.


Employment Requirements:
  • Must be able to be present in GLS’ Greenville, SC Office a minimum of 4 days per week
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Physical Requirements: While performing the essential duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:
  • Remain in a stationary position 100% of the workday
  • Constantly operate a computer and other standard office equipment 
  • Talk and hear to exchange accurate information
  • Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
  • The position does not require travel, although traveling opportunities may arise
