Job Title: Grader

Department: Production

Reports to: Production Assistant Manager

Schedule: Full Time ( Monday- Friday flexible during production hours)

Job Summary:

As a Grader at Global Neighborhood Thrift & Vintage, you will report directly to the Production Assistant Manager, and may occasionally coach , train and supervise participants in our Job Readiness Program. You will focus on efficiently grading books, media and clothing for sale in the Thrift Store as well as our Vintage department working both independently and alongside former refugee staff. Knowledge of literature, trends, brands and vintage clothing is a must. You will work with the production team to meet daily stocking quotas for the Vintage department and the Thrift Store.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to achieving sales goals by quickly and accurately grading vintage textiles and sellable textiles for the Thrift Store
  • Contribute to achieving sales goals by quickly and accurately grading books and media
  • Contribute to the development and training of former refugee staff via side by side grading and curating
  • Collaborate with other vintage department staff and books department staff to increase overall department profitability
  • Help achieve thrift store sales goals by assisting with general grading in textiles and books as necessary
  • Have knowledge of brands, current trends and literature
  • Help achieve Book Department sales goals through daily stocking and recycling
  • Quickly scan books to grade them for in-store sale and salvage sales with a target rate of 1 gaylord of books processed every 2.5 hours
  • Identify books to be marked up for higher price in-store
  • Genre sort books and assist with in-store book merchandising and stocking daily
  • Ability to use pallet jack and pallet tipper
  • Communicate with other Thrift Store staff via walkie talkie

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Full buy-in of Global Neighborhood’s mission
  • Knowledge of fashion, vintage clothing and current trends
  • Knowledge of books, book genres, and popular literature
  • Productivity-focus: Ability to work quickly while maintaining quality
  • Ability to be flexible in daily tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively across language and culture barriers
  • Respect and have knowledge of cultures, religions, ethnicities, gender, and sexual orientations other than one’s own

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand/move for an entire shift

Wage/ Salary Range and Benefits:

  • $18.45-$23.57 Hour DOE
  • Health insurance for full time employees
